PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

About Kothaligad:

Kothaligad, Peth is a small fort of 3100 ft. Situated to the east of Karjat near Karjat-Murbad Road in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is one of the most famous treks in the Karjat area, because of its small height and easy climbing. It is also known as the Fort of Peth.

History: The cave and the temple carvings date back to the 13th century. In 1684 Aurangjeb sent Abdul Kadir and Ali Biradkar to capture this fort and Abdul Kadir captured it. Aurangjeb honoured Abdul Kadir and renamed this fort as MiftahulFateh (Key to success). Many attempts were made later to win this fort by the Maratha Army but were not successful. In 1716, this cave was captured by the British. Then later on, on 2 November 1817, it was recaptured by the Marathas under the leadership of Bapurao who was general of Bajirao Peshwa. The fort was recovered by the British, on 30 December 1817, by Captain Brooks. The British had the fort till 1862 as an outpost for vigilance on the surrounding valley and the hills all around it.

The locals say that this is not a fort but a sort of lighthouse from where the directions were given to know the advancements of the enemy. It can be called a watch tower to keep a vigil on the Mawal area in the more significant province of the Maratha.

Itinerary:

Start Point: Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali ( East ) Mumbai.

Start Time: Sharp 0001 Hrs , 17th April 2022

Route: SGNP- Andheri - Santacruz chembur link road - Ghatkopar mankhurd link road - Chauk - Karjat - Murbad Rd - Kothaligad.

Itinerary: 

> The bus reaches base camp by 2400 Hrs

> Tea and Snacks 0200 Hrs

> ⬆Start our trek by  0400 Hrs

>  Reach Peth Village, 0500

> we reach a peak early Morning and rest at the top for Sunrise

> ⬇Start Descend at 0800 Hrs 

> Reach Base Camp Ambivali by 1000 Hrs Breakfast

> Resume back our journey to Mumbai by 1100 Hrs

> Reach Andheri by 1300 Hrs tentatively

Note:

1) Please do not carry any valuable things for this event.

2) Consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited

3) If you plan to opt out during the trek, then you have to make your arrangements.

4) The tour takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites.

Cancellation and Refund applicable on tour cost:

1. If done prior to 4 days of outing 50% will be refunded

2. After that, no refund will be provided.

I am obliged to provide a medical certificate before every outdoor activity I participate in. In case if a member is 18 years of age or below, approval later of Parent or Guardians is required.
